Proper Posture in Prayer

Scripture shows multiple physical postures in prayer, all reflecting humility and reverence—not obligation to a single form.

Kneeling

• “For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father…” (Ephesians 3:14)

Bowing Down

• “Come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before Yahawah our Maker.” (Psalm 95:6)

Lifting Hands

• “Lift up your hands in the sanctuary, and bless Yahawah.” (Psalm 134:2)

• “I will therefore that men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands…” (1 Timothy 2:8)

These postures reflect submission, surrender, and honor.

Eyes Closed or Open

Scripture does not command closing eyes in prayer. Prayer can be done in any posture of focus and sincerity. The emphasis is inward devotion, not outward technique.
