OUR WOMEN LOSING THEIR HAIR IS PROPHECY

We Hebrew Israelites understand passages in Book of Isaiah chapter 3 as prophetic judgments against the daughters of Zion, whom they understand to represent the women of Israel. In Isaiah 3:16–24, the chapter describes pride, luxury, and rebellion among the women, followed by punishment and mourning. One verse says that instead of well-set hair there would be “baldness.” We connect this to the historical suffering of Black women during slavery and oppression, including humiliation, stress, forced labor, physical abuse, and hair loss or damage caused by harsh conditions and chemicals. We view this as part of the curses and signs of captivity placed upon Israel for disobedience.

We believe hair is also sometimes connected to beauty, dignity, and separation unto God, drawing from broader biblical symbolism. Because of this, we understand the widespread struggles involving hair identity, texture discrimination, or shame surrounding natural appearance as evidence of cultural destruction and loss of identity among the scattered Israelites.
