Life in the Kingdom of Heaven on earth

The Kingdom of Heaven is often imagined as a place beyond the clouds where all people live as spirits. However, the prophets describe a future age in which the Messiah reigns upon the earth, righteousness fills the world, and the nations are governed according to the laws of the Most High. This Kingdom will bring peace, justice, long life, and prosperity unlike anything mankind has ever experienced.

Long Life and the End of Premature Death

One of the remarkable features of the Kingdom is the restoration of longevity. While death will still exist among mortal nations during this age, life spans will greatly increase. The prophet Isaiah wrote:

"There shall be no more thence an infant of days, nor an old man that hath not filled his days: for the child shall die an hundred years old; but the sinner being an hundred years old shall be accursed." (Isaiah 65:20)

In this restored world, reaching one hundred years of age will be considered the death of a child. Disease, violence, and suffering that shorten human life today will be greatly reduced. Yet those who continue in rebellion against God's laws will still face judgment and death.

Israel: The Light of the Nations

The Kingdom will be centered upon the nation of Israel under the rulership of the Messiah and the saints. The nations will come to Jerusalem to learn righteousness and receive instruction in the laws of God.

Israel will fulfill its calling as a light to the nations, teaching wisdom, justice, and truth throughout the earth. The confusion, corruption, and oppression that dominate the present age will give way to a world governed by divine law.

The nations will no longer walk according to their own ways but will seek guidance from Jerusalem, the city of the Great King.

The Nations Shall Serve the Kingdom

The prophets describe a world in which the nations acknowledge the authority of the Kingdom and assist in its restoration.

Isaiah declares:

"And strangers shall build up thy walls, and their kings shall minister unto thee..." (Isaiah 60:10)

The sons of strangers will participate in rebuilding and beautifying the holy city. Their labor and resources will contribute to the glory of the Kingdom as they recognize the authority established by the Most High.

Yet this service will not be optional. Isaiah further states:

"For the nation and kingdom that will not serve thee shall perish; yea, those nations shall be utterly wasted." (Isaiah 60:12)

The nations will be given the opportunity to walk in righteousness, but persistent rebellion against the Kingdom will bring consequences and judgment.

The New Jerusalem and the Twelve Tribes

At the center of the Kingdom stands the New Jerusalem, the holy city described by John.

The city possesses twelve gates, each named after one of the twelve tribes of Israel. This reveals the central role of Israel in God's everlasting purpose.

The tribes will be gathered and restored according to their inheritance. No tribe will be forgotten, and the promises made to the fathers will be fulfilled.

The New Jerusalem will shine as the capital of the earth, a city of righteousness, justice, and divine glory. From it will proceed instruction, judgment, and healing for the nations.

The River of Life and the Trees of Healing

The Kingdom will also bring healing to the earth itself.

John describes a pure river proceeding from the throne of God. Along its banks grows the Tree of Life:

"And the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations." (Revelation 22:2)

The nations will benefit from the blessings that flow from God's presence. Disease, suffering, and affliction will be diminished as the earth experiences restoration under righteous rule.

The healing leaves symbolize the continual renewal and blessing available to those who submit themselves to the ways of the Most High.

The Feast of Passover and Obedience Among the Nations

The nations will not be left to determine their own forms of worship. They will be required to honor the King and observe the appointed times established by God.

The prophets teach that nations refusing to appear before the Lord and honor His commandments will face punishment.

As the Scriptures declare, those who refuse to come and worship will have rain withheld from their land. Their disobedience will bring drought and judgment until they learn righteousness and obedience.

The Kingdom will therefore be a government of justice, rewarding obedience while correcting rebellion.

Peace, Order, and Righteousness

Unlike the kingdoms of this present world, the Kingdom of Heaven will be founded upon righteousness. Corrupt governments, unjust laws, and oppression will be removed. The knowledge of God will cover the earth as the waters cover the sea.

Families will dwell safely. Nations will learn peace. The earth will produce abundantly. The laws of God will be taught openly, and justice will be administered without corruption.

This Kingdom represents the fulfillment of the promises spoken by the prophets—a world restored under the reign of the Messiah, with Israel established as a light to the nations and all peoples given the opportunity to walk in righteousness.

It will be an age of long life, healing, peace, and divine order, where the glory of God fills the earth and His government stands forever.
